World Cup: India beat Pakistan by 76 runs

Adelaide, Feb 15 (IANS) India defeated Pakistan by 76 runs in their first Pool B match of the World Cup at the Adelaide Oval here Sunday.

India rode on vice-captain Virat Kohli's 107 to score 300/7. Kohli got good support from opener Shikhar Dhawan (73) and Suresh Raina (74). For Pakistan, fast-bowler Sohail Khan took five wickets to restrict India in the fag-end of the innings.

In reply, Pakistan were bowled out for 224. Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq (76) battled hard but ran out of partners.

Pacer Mohammed Shami was the pick of the Indian bowlers taking four wickets for 35 runs in his nine overs.
