Dr. PS Chandra, Professor of Neurosurgery at AIIMS has said that it is not right to play with your safety by taking Omicron lightly. However, he also told that the cases which seem to be increasing rapidly at present may see a decrease in the coming few weeks. But we have to be alert and ready for the worst.

Dr. Chandra said that looking at the rest of the countries, we can say that soon there may be a decrease in corona cases. In Africa and South Africa, it was seen that after increasing the cases rapidly, now the cases are decreasing continuously. But we need to be careful because Omicron is a very fast-spreading variant. So for your safety, wear a mask continuously, take care of social distancing, and can continue working from home.

Herd immunity is increasing - Expert

Like last time, this time despite the increase in the case, there is not that kind of panic, because most of the people are such, who are either not showing symptoms of the corona, or they have very mild symptoms. On this, the expert of AIIMS said that it shows that we are moving towards herd immunity. The immunity created in the people is working to fight this virus. But again it needs to be kept in mind that this virus is going to spread very fast.

Dr. Chandra said that even though not many people are getting admitted to the hospital. But if a large number of people get infected due to the virus being more contagious and even 1 percent of our population is hospitalized, then there will be a lot of pressure on our hospital infrastructure. We do not want this to be affected in any way.
