China has made a big change in Hong Kong's electoral process, now only those who have devotion to Beijing will be allowed to contest elections. This order will increase China's grandeur on Hong Kong, which is called the world's financial hub. On Tuesday, President Xi Jinping signed a plan for election reform in Hong Kong. According to the report of the Chinese state media, the reason for this major change in the system of Hong Kong is that the local bodies can be operated only through patriotic people. Through this, the governance of the city will be plugged.

Only those people who have faith in Beijing will be able to contest elections in this special administrative area. There is also opposition to this decision of China in Hong Kong. Critics say that this will end democracy and opposition in the city. Earlier in Hong Kong, China also implemented a new national security law. This law was also strongly opposed and it was said to be against democracy. Indeed, to crush the voices of opposition in Hong Kong, changes are being made in-laws and new regulations are being implemented by China. The new National Security Act, which came into force in 2019, was fiercely opposed and protracted protests in Hong Kong.

In early March, China's People's National People's Congress approved the plan for election reform. The NPC Standing Committee has passed the resolution by a majority vote, according to a report by China's government agency Xinhua. Under this new law, the constitution of Hong Kong will be amended. According to the new law, the candidature of any person contesting in Hong Kong will be reviewed by a committee. An election committee will be created for this. This committee will monitor the candidates and will work closely with the National Security Authorities to select the patriotic candidates.

The status of Hong Kong's administration will change

Let us tell that in 1997, Hong Kong was handed over to China by China. After this, the basic law was formulated under the principle of one country two system. Under this, Hong Kong had more autonomy and people had independence than the main territory of China. However, after the new law comes into force, the situation will change further.
