Amidst the second phase of voting for the Assembly elections in West Bengal, violent clashes have erupted in several locations, including Nadia, Howrah, and South 24 Parganas. In the Basanti area of ​​South 24 Parganas, BJP candidate Vikas Sardar was targeted in an attack, while reports indicate a physical altercation between BJP and TMC supporters in Panihati.

According to reports, the vehicle of the BJP candidate in Basanti was vandalized, leading to a tense situation in the area. This incident occurred at Booth Number 76, where BJP candidate Vikas Sardar was allegedly attacked while visiting the polling station. According to sources, a group of individuals attacked the candidate when he went to inspect the polling booth. Meanwhile, in Ramchandrapur (Booth Number 147) of Hooghly district, a clash broke out between TMC and ISF supporters. The altercation reportedly escalated due to rising tensions over allegations regarding the deployment of fake polling agents.

 

 

Tensions Escalate in the Area

During the incident, the candidate’s vehicle was vandalized. There were also attempts to snatch weapons from his security personnel. It is alleged that, despite the presence of Central Forces, the security personnel did not intervene to control the situation or assist in the rescue efforts. This incident has further heightened tensions in the area.

 

 

Dispute Over Tearing of Voter Lists

In Hooghly-Chinsurah, a commotion ensued over the removal of several roadside election banners belonging to the Trinamool Congress. Meanwhile, a dispute arose at Booth Numbers 27, 28, and 29 regarding the tearing of voter lists. Trinamool workers and supporters allegedly attempted to drive away certain personnel of the Central Forces from the premises. Additionally, a scuffle broke out between BJP and TMC workers at Booth Number 145 in the Panihati Assembly constituency. This altercation persisted for a considerable duration during the voting process, following which security forces stepped in and attempted to bring the situation under control.
