Tibetan religious leader Dalai Lama arrived at Leh airport on Friday. He left for Ladakh from Jammu airport this morning. The religious leaders will attend the two-day celebrations in Ladakh. There is tremendous enthusiasm among his followers in Ladakh.

 

 

They can spend more than a month in Ladakh. This is expected to anger China further as there is a standoff between Indian and Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh. Regarding the visit of religious leader Dalai Lama to Ladakh, a top government official said that his visit is religious and no one should be disturbed by it.

 

 

The government official said this is not the first time that the Dalai Lama is visiting the border area. He has also visited Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh several times in the past. “The Dalai Lama is a spiritual leader and his visit to Ladakh is purely religious. Why should anyone object to his visit?

 

This is the Dalai Lama's first visit outside Dharamsala after two years due to the Corona epidemic. He had isolated himself at his Mcleodganj residence. During this time he did not meet anyone. He kept interacting with followers from all over the world through a virtual medium.

 

In Jammu on Thursday, the Dalai Lama said his demand was for meaningful autonomy within China and to preserve Tibetan Buddhist culture. Not ordinary people living in China, but some fundamentalists consider them separatists. There is a growing number of people in China who realize that they are not seeking independence but meaningful autonomy and the preservation of Tibetan Buddhist culture.

 

The Dalai Lama celebrated his birthday in Ladakh in 2018. During that also there was a reaction from China toward India. This week when Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Dalai Lama on his birthday, China also expressed strong displeasure.

 

Then Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said that India should refrain from using issues related to Tibet while refraining from interfering in China's internal affairs. At the same time, India rejected China's criticism and said that the Dalai Lama is the guest of honor of the country. The Dalai Lama has been living in India since his exodus from Tibet in 1959.
