Demand for the removal of President Xi Jinping from the post rising in China, and protests are happening in a dozen cities

In China, there have been protests many times in different parts of the country regarding President Xi Jinping's zero covid policy and anti-Tibet policies. These two issues were also the reason for the recent midnight demonstration in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang province. These protests against President Xi in various areas of Tibet are also proof that the spark of independence from China is still burning in Tibet. On Saturday night, protesters opposing President Xi in Xinjiang carried banners and posters with slogans calling for Xi to step down from the post of president and end the lockdown due to the zero-covid policy.

In Tibet, where people are on the streets unhappy with the policy of the Communist Party of China, whereas in other cities of China, these protests are largely against the Zero Covid policy. Let us tell you that due to the lockdown in many cities in China, business is being badly affected. These protests are happening at a time when Xi's third term as President was sealed during the 20th National Congress last month. In such a situation, the Communist Party has also been shaken by the demand for his resignation against President Xi. However, the government has called the lockdown necessary and said that due to this only 6 thousand deaths have taken place due to Corona in the country whereas in western countries its figure is in lakhs.

 

Health commission made changes

Because of the protests against the Zero Covid policy in China, the National Health Commission of China has also made some changes to this policy. Which includes reducing the quarantine time, and relaxing the restrictions. The commission has also released a 20-point program. It should also be mentioned here that where 30,000 cases of the corona were reported in the country on Saturday, their figure had increased to 40,000 on Sunday.

 

The adverse effect of Xi's policies

Government policy and increasing cases have also affected the city of Guangzhou, which is called the manufacturing hub of the country. Apart from this, dozens of cities including Tianjin, and Shijiazhuang are lying. As far as protests are concerned, a large number of people have taken to the streets in Urumqi, China's capital Beijing, and the country's largest cities Shanghai, Chengdu, Xi'an, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Guangzhou to protest against the Zero Covid policy.

On Sunday also, wherever protests took place, a large number of security personnel were deployed. In these, a large number of security personnel were deployed in uniform and many in plain clothes. Apart from this, reports of clashes between the protesters and the security personnel at many places have also been published in various newspapers. A special feature of all these protests was that they were demanding the resignation of President Xi and were also shouting slogans to remove the lockdown.

 

When did the protests happen before?

The kind of protests that are now visible in China against the zero covid policy took place last month as well. On 13, 14, 15, 18, and 19 October, 10, 12, 15, and 16 November also similar protests took place at many places. However, the government is keeping a close watch on social media because of these protests. Information related to the Urumqi protests was quickly removed from social media by the government. The government is adopting all kinds of tactics to stop these protests.
