The court sentenced Afzal Ansari to four years imprisonment and also imposed a fine of one lakh. Afzal Ansari's parliament membership also ended due to his sentence of more than two years.

The decision was to come on April 15 in this matter going on in the MP/MLA court. The verdict could not be delivered as the judge was on leave. April 29 was fixed as the date for such a decision. In this case of the year 2007, the debate and hearing were completed on April 1 and the decision was to be taken on April 15. Afzal Ansari, BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai's murder case is included in the gang chart, in this case, going on in MP/MLA court under Gangster Act against Mukhtar Ansari. While the case of kidnapping and murder of Nandkishore Rungta is also included in the gang chart.
