A report from IIT Delhi has raised the concerns of Kejriwal and the central government amidst the possible situation of Corona in Delhi. It has been said in the report that in the third wave of the corona, the capital will have to be prepared for 45000 corona cases daily. During this time, about 9000 people will need to admit to the hospital every day.
Report prepared based on 3 conditions
The report titled IITD Review and Recommendation for Management of Oxygen during the Covid Crisis for GNCTD mentions three conditions. In the first case, the number of patients, the number of people admitted to the hospital, and the need for oxygen has been estimated in case of conditions similar to the second wave of the corona. The second situation is based on the needs of new cases increasing by 30%. The third situation is the increase of 60% in the infectious population. In this situation, more than 45 thousand cases have been estimated daily.
944 MT of oxygen will be needed daily
According to a published report in the Times of India, a report filed in the Delhi High Court said that 944 metric tonnes of oxygen would be required daily to overcome this crisis. A bench of Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Jamsit Singh of the Delhi High Court in the matter has sought information from the Delhi government about the steps to be taken based on the recommendations made by IIT Delhi within four weeks. The government has to present this information in court along with the timeline.
Dealing with epidemic once in a century: Court
The court said that we are dealing with the epidemic once in a century. According to historical evidence, the last pandemic occurred in 1920. We can prepare for a long battle by building an oxygen manufacturing plant. You should put it on the top. This can make the way for many things like storage, movement, evaporation easier.
Preparation is necessary before the third wave
During the hearing in the Delhi High Court, IIT-Delhi Professor Sanjay Dhir told the court about the means of the findings. Based on the data of the Kejriwal government, he shortlisted some challenges for the state to improve oxygen infrastructure in Delhi. He said that because of the threat of a more dangerous third wave, immediate measures are needed to increase the storage capacity, improve the supply from outside Delhi, to address the shortage of pressure swing adsorption (PSA) plants and cryogenic oxygen tankers.
Oxygen infrastructure is said to be improving
The report talks of improving the oxygen infrastructure in the capital. In this, it has been asked to buy 20-25 cryogenic oxygen tankers with a capacity of 20-100 tonnes from the Delhi government. This will help in the distribution of oxygen during the pandemic. The report says that the Delhi government will have to be vigilant about the size of the oxygen tanker. It should be such that it can be managed with different modes of transport.
Situation under control in Delhi at present
In Delhi, 1,141 people were found corona positive on Friday. 2,799 people recovered and 139 died. So far, 14.23 lakh people have been infected. Of these, 13.85 lakh people have been cured, while 23,951 patients have died. 14,581 is undergoing treatment here.
