Imran Khan's party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has created history by winning 15 out of 20 seats in the by-election in Pakistan's largest state of Punjab. Now it is certain that the government of Hamza Sharif, the son of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Chief Minister of Punjab province, will fall. Imran's spirits are high with this victory. Khan has also increased the pressure on the central government and the army. Imran said on Monday- the Sharif government will not last long. Now general elections are the only way.
the situation is not expected to improve
There are many challenges before Pakistan. Many economists have said that in terms of population, Pakistan can go bankrupt at any time. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) does not seem ready to give loans despite months of talks. Pakistan has been on the gray list of FATF for three years on the issue of terrorism.
Imran also mentioned these issues. Said- Now there is only one way to save the country from difficulties. Fair general elections should be held at the earliest. We can't wait for October 2023. The Election Commission has to play the right role. If nothing is done even now, the economic condition of the country will go from bad to worse.
Now even debt is difficult
At present, no financial institution including IMF is ready to give a loan to Pakistan. One of the main reasons for this is political instability. Secondly, Imran is accused of conspiring to topple the US government. The world knows that there are many financial institutions, including the IMF and the World Bank, where the US directly dominates.
The problem with Pakistan is that it has been accepted as a country owned by China. This is the reason why China gives loans to Pakistan on secret terms, but no financial institution in the world does this. The reason for this is America. The Shahbaz Sharif government is trying to bring the relations that had deteriorated with America during the era of Imran, but till now it has not been successful.
According to 'Bloomberg', the value of one dollar on Monday was equal to about 215 rupees for Pakistan and it is the lowest level in two years. It has fallen by about 42% since 2017. Pakistan has also paid a heavy price in the case of Afghanistan. Pakistan's economist Dr. Faiz Mahmood said in an interview recently- As long as there was an American army in Afghanistan, we used to collect millions of dollars in the name of war against terrorism. Now America has gone from there and has stopped funding Pakistan. The problem is that we have never been able to stand on our feet. There is no hope that the situation will improve in the coming times. Imran's victory in Punjab will have a very bad effect on both the politics and economy of the country.
