In the Additional Sessions Judge First / MP-MLA court, the verdict was pronounced in the ongoing 15-year-old gangster case against MPs Afzal Ansari and Mukhtar Ansari. In this case, Mukhtar Ansari has been imprisoned for ten years and fined five lakhs. The court convicted MP Afzal as well and imposed a four-year sentence and a fine of one lakh.

In the gangster's case, the police had also based the case on November 29, 2005, for gunning down seven people, including the then BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai, his gunner, in front of Basaniya village. Apart from this, the coal businessman Nandkishore Rungta kidnapping case was also included. However, in both these cases the Ansari brothers have been acquitted. There is a lot of curiosity among the people about the decision of the court in the MP's case. The administration is in full alert mode regarding security arrangements. Barricading has been done near the SP office. The heavy police force is deployed at Lanka Stand, Irrigation Department Square, Shastri Nagar, Municipal Square, and other places in the city.

On 22 November 2007, the Muhammadabad police filed a case under the Gang Bandh Act against MPs Afzal Ansari and Mukhtar Ansari, including the case of Bhanvarkol and Varanasi in the gang chart. In this, MP Afzal Ansari is on bail. On 23 September 2022, prima facie charges have been framed in the court against MPs Afzal Ansari and Mukhtar Ansari.

The arguments came to an end after the prosecution concluded its evidence. The court had fixed the date of April 15 for the decision, but the decision could not come due to the presiding officer being on leave. The date of pronouncing the verdict has been fixed on Saturday i.e. today.

These cases were made based on gangster

In detaining Afzal Ansari and Mukhtar Ansari as gangsters, the police had based the murder of Krishnanand Rai, who became MLA from BJP after defeating Afzal from Muhammadabad, and coal businessman Rungta incident. However, Afzal has been acquitted in both cases. Based on this, Afzal went to the High Court against the gangster. It was argued that when the main case became bigger, then the gangster's action based on this should be canceled. However, there was no relief.
