One downside of being a star or a public figure is the difficulty they face in visiting crowded places. One recalls numerous instances where crowds mobbed actors, leading to chaos and pandemonium. Many such stories are frequently heard as well. Recently, in a conversation, celebrity bodyguard Yusuf Ibrahim recounted the scene that unfolded when Shah Rukh Khan arrived at the Ajmer Dargah.
Situation at the Dargah Spirals Out of Control
Yusuf, who once served as Shah Rukh Khan’s bodyguard, revealed in a conversation with Screen that he and his team had accompanied Shah Rukh Khan to the Ajmer Sharif Dargah on a Friday. When Shah Rukh Khan arrived, the crowd spiraled out of control. He stated, “There was only one instance in my entire life when the situation completely slipped out of control. We visited the Ajmer Sharif Dargah with Shah Rukh Khan on a Friday, around 12:30 PM. It was the time for Namaz (prayers). Fridays typically see a massive turnout of people in Ajmer.”
Shah Rukh Swept into the Dargah by the Crowd
He further elaborated, “Despite police intervention, managing the situation remained incredibly difficult. We were physically shoved into the Dargah and subsequently pushed back out to the car. We couldn’t even walk on our own; we were simply being carried along by the crowd. Consequently, nothing was truly within our control. The police even had to resort to a lathi-charge (baton charge). There was absolute pandemonium at the time. We simply held onto Shah Rukh Sir; we couldn’t do much else amidst all the pushing and shoving.”
How Did Shah Rukh React?
Speaking about Shah Rukh Khan’s reaction following the incident, Yusuf revealed that the superstar remained completely unperturbed. He said, “He never said a word to me—neither did he scold me, nor did he display any anger or negative reaction. He understands the nature of things; he is accustomed to it. He knows that people’s love for him can reach any extent. He is very much used to this reality.”
