World Cup 2023, 44 Days Left: Yuvraj Singh, the hero of the 2011 WC, did not leave the team even after being unwell

India won the trophy in the 2011 ODI World Cup by defeating Sri Lanka in the final. This tournament was special for Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar, but the biggest hero of that World Cup was Yuvraj Singh, who, despite being unwell, not only played an important role in making the team the world champion with his all-rounder performance but also Player of the series was also selected.

 

World Cup 2011: Yuvraj Singh won the Player of the Match award four times

Yuvraj Singh was in great form in the 2011 ODI World Cup and impressed with his performances in several matches. Yuvraj was named Player of the Match a total of four times, equaling Sri Lanka's Aravinda de Silva (1996) and South Africa's Lance Klusener (1999) in terms of winning the award for the most times in a World Cup.

 

Yuvraj has many achievements

Yuvraj scored more than 300 runs in nine innings during that period and took 15 wickets. He became the first all-rounder to do so in a World Cup. Against Ireland, Yuvraj had an impressive performance with both bat and ball. He is the first player to score 50 runs in a World Cup along with taking five wickets.

 

Maintained spirits despite being unwell

Yuvraj Singh had become unwell during the World Cup and was facing many problems. Despite this, he persevered and made the team the world champion. He was later diagnosed with cancer and was treated in the US.
