England had to suffer a humiliating 69-run defeat at the hands of Afghanistan in the 13th match of the World Cup 2023 on Sunday. The England team led by Jos Buttler became the victim of a major upset and also made an unwanted record in its name.

England became the first team in ODI World Cup history to defeat all 11 Test-playing nations in the tournament. England suffered its first defeat in the 1975 World Cup against Australia. After this, England lost to the West Indies in the 1979 World Cup final.
