Admission of women to private and public universities in Afghanistan has been banned with immediate effect until further notice. This information was given by a spokesman of the Taliban government. The decision was announced after a meeting of the Taliban government. The letter, shared by Ziaullah Hashmi, spokesperson of the Ministry of Higher Education, asked private and public universities to implement it at the earliest. Hashmi also tweeted his letter.

Ban on higher education for girl students

Afghanistan's Tolo News reported that the Ministry of Higher Education has ordered the suspension of higher education for female students in the country until further announcement. Let us tell you that the Taliban captured Afghanistan in August last year, after which many restrictions have been imposed on the citizens. Strict provisions have been made in those restrictions, especially for women and girls.

Taliban have already imposed many restrictions

The Islamist group dismissed all women from leadership positions in the civil service and barred girls from attending secondary school in most provinces. Taliban decrees prevent women from traveling unless accompanied by a male relative and require women to cover their faces in public, including for female TV anchors.

Antonio Guterres said on Afghanistan-

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday stressed the need to include all ethnic groups in power structures in Afghanistan, saying it is important that all ethnic groups are represented. They also stressed the need to ensure human rights in Afghanistan, especially the rights of women and girls, the right of women to work, and the right of girls to go to school at all levels.
