Air India: Tata will merge its four airlines into Air India, reports claim - Vistara brand will no longer exist

Posted on 18th Nov 2022 02:58 pm by rohit kumar

Tata Group wants to bring four different airline brands under the umbrella of Air India Limited. After the merger, the four Tata Group airlines, including Air India, Vistara, Air India Express, and Air Asia India, will do business with the brand name 'Air India' in the future. People with knowledge of the matter have said that with this move the giant Tata Group is trying to revive its faltering aviation business.

According to sources, India's largest conglomerate is also considering scrapping the Vistara brand, which is the local arm of Singapore Airlines Limited in India and a Tata Group affiliate. According to sources, on the condition of anonymity, it has been said that this plan is very private. One of the people with knowledge of the matter has said that Singapore Airlines is evaluating the size of the stake in the combined entity.

However, representatives of Tata Group, Air India, and Vistara are yet to respond to queries in this regard. At the same time, in a statement issued by Singapore Airlines, it has been said that talks are going on between Tata and SIA. The statement echoes what was said during an exchange filing on October 13. According to him, SIA and Tata Group are working on further strengthening their partnership. Under this, Air India and Vistara can be merged.

Air India is gearing up for a turnaround under the leadership of its new owner, the Tata Group. The full-service airline provider is considering the purchase of 300 small-body aircraft. If the order for the purchase of these aircraft is placed, it will be the biggest order in the aviation industry so far. Air India chief executive Campbell Wilson had said last month that the airline was looking to triple its fleet of 113 aircraft over the next five years. Their aircraft fleet will have both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft.

Air India is also preparing to raise at least one billion dollars in a funding round. If this happens, the valuation of the company will be around five billion dollars. The experts on this matter informed me about this in September last. Air India is also working on plans to add 25 Airbus SE and five Boeing Co planes to its fleet by December.
