The West Indies and South African teams, who were unable to return home due to a lack of flights, will finally depart from India on March 10th.

Due to the Israel-Iran war in the Middle East, the airspace of several countries was closed, leaving these teams stranded in India. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has now arranged a chartered flight for both teams.

The South Africa and West Indies teams will return home today.

In fact, the West Indies and South African teams will depart from India for Johannesburg today, March 10th, at 2:30 pm. After reaching Johannesburg, the West Indies team will proceed to Antigua.

This decision was made because both teams had been stranded in India for several days due to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East and the airspace closure.

Currently, a total of 12 West Indies players and 10 support staff are in India, while the South African team has 12 players and 2 support staff.

Earlier, it was reported that West Indies coach Darren Sammy would depart via Singapore tonight, while three other players would travel via another route.

Three South African players—Keshav Maharaj, George Linde, and Jason Smith—have already departed for New Zealand, where South Africa and New Zealand are scheduled to play a five-match T20I series starting March 15th.

It is worth noting that following the US and Israeli attacks on Iran in the Middle East, the airspace of several West Asian countries was closed, altering the travel plans of these teams.

The West Indies team was stranded in Kolkata after losing their Super 8 match to India on March 1st. South Africa, meanwhile, was unable to return to Eden Gardens after losing to New Zealand in the semi-final on March 4th.
