
The central government made a major administrative reshuffle on Monday. Under this, former Petroleum Secretary Tarun Kapoor has been appointed as an advisor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At the same time, Gyanesh Kumar has been made cooperative secretary and Alkesh Kumar Sharma has been made secretary in the Ministry of Information Technology.
The order for administrative reshuffle was issued by the Union Personnel Ministry on Monday. Tarun Kapoor, who was appointed advisor to the PM, is a 1987 batch IAS of Himachal cadre. He retired from the Ministry of Oil and Natural Gas on 30 November 2021.
According to the Personnel Ministry, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of Kapoor as an advisor to the PM. He will serve as a Respondent in the PMO. His rank will be the rank of Secretary to the Government of India. He has been initially appointed for two years. It will be effective from the day he assumes office.
Hari Ranjan Rao and Atish Chandra Additional Secretaries in PMO
Similarly, senior IAS officers Hari Ranjan Rao and Atish Chandra have been posted as additional secretaries in the PMO. Rao is a 1994 batch IAS officer of the MP cadre. Presently he is the Administrator of the Universal Services Obligation Fund in the Ministry of Telecom. His batchmate Aatish Chandra of Bihar cadre is currently the CMD of the Food Corporation of India.
Gyanesh Kumar made cooperative secretary
Senior IAS officer Gyanesh Kumar has been made Secretary in the Ministry of Cooperation. Kumar is a 1988 batch Kerala cadre IAS. He is presently Secretary in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. He has been made cooperative secretary in place of Devendra Kumar Singh. Singh has been made the Secretary-General of the Human Rights Commission. Alkesh Kumar Sharma, who is currently Coordinating Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat, has been made Secretary, Information Technology and Telecommunications (Meity).
Pradeep Kumar Tripathi, Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has been transferred as Secretary, (Coordination), Cabinet Secretariat, in place of Sharma. S Radha Chauhan, a 1988 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, will be the new Secretary of DoPT in place of Tripathi. Sanjay Kumar, a 1990 batch IAS officer currently serving in his cadre state Bihar, will be the secretary of the youth affairs department. SK G Rahaate, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Power, has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice.
