Bangladesh will take part in a tri-series in New Zealand in September-October as part of preparations for this year's T20 World Cup. Jalal Yunus of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) told that all the matches will be played in Christchurch and the third team can be Pakistan. Before arriving in New Zealand, Bangladesh will have a practice camp in Adelaide for a week, where they will face some regional teams in T20 practice matches.
The date of the match in the tri-series is not yet clear, but it is difficult to find any window for it except in late September and early October. The World Cup will start on 16 October and the Super 12 stop on 22 October. The campaign in both Bangladesh and New Zealand is to begin from this stage. Younis said, 'We will play more than 16 T20 matches (before the World Cup). In such a situation, there will be no need for any separate camp for preparation. We will camp in Adelaide for a week and then go to play tri-series.
Younis told that the 16 matches include the series in West Indies and Zimbabwe in July and August. Apart from this, this year's Asia Cup will also be played in the T20 format. Younis also said that BCB officials are also in talks with Tamim Iqbal, who made himself unavailable for six months from the T20 format in January. He said, 'Tamim is one of the most senior players. You will know everything about this only after maybe six months are over. We want him to play and we are trying to persuade him. We will respect his decision, in the end, he has to decide on his future.
