In response, Ireland's team could only manage 125 runs for nine wickets in 17 overs. They lost the first match by 22 runs based on the Duckworth-Lewis method. The third and final match of the series will be played on March 31 in Chittagong.

Shakib took five wickets for 22 runs during this match. He became the highest wicket-taker in T20 Internationals. He left behind New Zealand's Tim Southee (134 wickets) in this matter.

Talking about Ireland's innings, only Curtis Campher could stand against the Bangladeshi bowlers. He scored 50 runs in 30 balls. Harry Tector scored 22 runs. Graham Hume remained unbeaten on 20 off 17 balls. Apart from these three batsmen, no batsman could cross the double figure. Eight of Ireland's batsmen disappointed the team. These include captain Paul Stirling who was dismissed for zero. Captain Shakib took five wickets and Taskin Ahmed took three wickets for Bangladesh. Hasan Mahmood got a breakthrough.
