The Bengaluru police arrested Nikhil Sosale, marketing head at Diageo India for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and three others from DNA Entertainment Networks on Friday morning in connection with the stampede during RCB's IPL victory celebrations that left 11 people dead and 56 injured.

 

The arrests came following Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's directive to take action against officials of RCB, DNA Entertainment, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA). Sosale was detained at the Bengaluru airport while trying to travel to Mumbai.

 

Three DNA Entertainment employees were arrested.

 

The police have detained three employees of DNA Entertainment Networks Pvt Ltd in connection with the stampede investigation. They have been identified as Sunil Mathew (director and vice-president), Sumanth (DNA ticketing officer) and Kiran Kumar (manager). The state government has suspended several top police officials including Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayanand.

 

Who is Nikhil Sosale?

 

Nikhil Sosale has been associated with RCB since the first season. According to his LinkedIn profile, he works in the position of Marketing and Revenue of RCB at Diageo India. Nikhil Sosale has a double major in business from James Cook University. This Sosale completed between 2008 and 2010. Sosale was seen cheering the team during RCB matches during the 2025 season.

 

FIR has been registered in Cubbon police station

 

At the same time, officials said that an FIR was registered at Cubbon Park police station after the complaint of the police inspector. In the FIR, RCB has been made accused number 1, DNA Entertainment Private Limited has been made accused number 2 and Karnataka State Cricket Association Administrative Committee has been made accused number 3.

 

The FIR claims that the necessary permission was not taken to organize the event. RCB, DNA event management firm and state cricket association celebrated the victory without the required permission. RCB said it will cooperate with legal action after an FIR was filed against it.
