Big disclosure on the deaths in Chardham Yatra: Most of the 34 people killed in the journey had corona, lungs were also weak

More than 13 lakh pilgrims have registered for the Char Dham Yatra so far, but within two weeks of the commencement of the Yatra, at least 34 pilgrims have died due to heart attack, high blood pressure, and mountain sickness. Most of them are people who had previously gone through corona infection. Because of the death of passengers at high altitudes, the administration has increased the precaution.

Lungs harden after infection

Senior Physician Dr. Praveen Panwar says that those who had more infections in their lungs from corona have problems in high places. In case of severe infection, the lungs become hardened. Their flowering capacity is reduced. In such a situation, if a person coming from the field is trying to breathe while climbing a mountain at a height of three thousand meters, then the lungs are not able to inflate properly. This increases the risk of stroke.

This means that patients with severe infections may have recovered, but in many cases, their lungs have not fully recovered. Doctors advise that such people should avoid going to high-altitude areas. That is why new medical camps have also been set up for the health check-up of the pilgrims on the Yatra route.

If the infection was more than 12 points, then avoid mountain travel

Dr. Anurag Aggarwal, HOD, Department of Respiratory Diseases at Doon Medical College, says that people who had corona last year and their lung infection showed more than 12 points in CT scan, should avoid going to high places this year. . Such people should get X-ray or CT scan done before going to high altitude.

If there is any discomfort in the chest or lungs, bronchoscopy can be used to remove mucus or tissue samples for examination from those places. Bronchoscopy examination is performed under the supervision of a pulmonologist (respiratory specialist). This test will know how the condition of the lungs. Based on that, you can decide to travel or avoid it.

Water shortage and long jams on the travel route

Taking cognizance of the frequent deaths during the Chardham Yatra, the Center has also deployed NDRF and ITBP for the first time. Meanwhile, due to a large number of devotees, the yatra route is also facing turmoil. Somewhere there is a shortage of water, somewhere there is a seven-seven km long jam. Taking advantage of the opportunity, hotels and restaurants are charging exorbitant prices. The situation has become such that the administration has to order the arrest of such traders. It has also been decided that passengers arriving without registration will not be allowed to go beyond Rishikesh.

Preparing to deploy army for crowd control

In Uttarakhand, about 50 thousand people are reaching every Dham in the pilgrimage of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath every day. This number is more than double the staying capacity in the Dhams. Many people are sleeping in cars. Controlling the crowd and providing health facilities is a big challenge for the government. Chief Secretary SS Sandhu said that the army would be deployed if needed.

Even after the construction of the all-weather road, there is a jam

Common people hoped that this time the construction of an all-weather road would facilitate the Chardham Yatra. There will be no jams, but many towns falling on the Yatra route are facing tremendous jams. In towns like Rudraprayag, Karnprayag, Uttarkashi, Purola, Joshimath, Nandraprayag, Srinagar, etc.
