Coronavirus cases are increasing again around the world. Vaccination work is also going on in full swing to defeat Corona. Meanwhile, new research has found that the flu vaccine can prevent the spread of corona infection. Not only this, but the flu vaccine also reduces the risk of stroke, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), ie blood clotting and sepsis. Scientists from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in the US have done this research.
Scientists say, 'During the research, it has come to the fore that people who had received the flu ie influenza vaccine 6 months ago, the risk of being admitted to the emergency and ICU decreased due to corona.'
The research was done on 75 thousand corona infected from many big countries
Researchers have made this conclusion based on analysis of data of about 75 thousand corona infected. They say that corona victims who get the flu vaccine every year have been found to have a 40% lower risk of stroke, sepsis, and blood clot formation. The need to admit such corona patients who have been vaccinated against the flu in the ICU has also been seen less.
The research included patients from the US, UK, Germany, Italy, Israel, and Singapore. Researchers divided 75 thousand Covid patients into two groups of 37,000 patients.
There were 37 thousand patients in one group who had received the flu vaccine before corona infection. At the same time, there were such patients of Covid in the second group who did not get the flu vaccine.
The results showed that those who did not get the flu vaccine were up to 20% more likely to be admitted to the ICU. Their risk of emergency was 58%, the risk of sepsis was 45% and the risk of stroke was up to 58%.
This research can give relief to those countries where the corona vaccine has not yet reached
There are more than 85 countries in the world where the corona vaccine will not reach even by 2023, or the rate of arrival will be very slow. In such a situation, this research can be of relief for those countries where the vaccine has not been reached, or the pace of vaccination is very slow.
Vaccination is very slow in India
If we talk about India, then even here vaccination is very slow compared to developed countries. According to the Union Minister of State for Health, Dr. Bharti Praveen Pawar, there are currently 57,518 ventilators in the country.
So far 4.27 lakh people have died in the country due to corona infection, out of which many people lost their lives due to lack of oxygen and ventilators. If we talk about vaccination, so far only 8.3% of Indians are fully vaccinated, that is, those who have received both doses of the vaccine, while 29.0% of people have got a single dose of the vaccine. In this case, this research can prove to be helpful.
Researchers from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in the US say, 'So far, only a small population worldwide has been able to get both doses of the vaccine. In such a situation, there is a need to reduce the number of deaths and diseases in this epidemic. This result of the study is very important in the era of the corona epidemic. This study of ours can prove to help reduce the increasing pressure of disease across the world.
The flu vaccine is not a substitute for the corona vaccine
Experts also say that the flu vaccine can be helpful, but cannot be a substitute for the corona vaccine. Therefore, as soon as possible, people must get the corona vaccine.
