A scuffle between AAP and BJP councilors in the House
The swearing-in of the councilors was to begin at 11 am on Friday, but as soon as the pro-tem speaker first started administering the oath to the nominated members, the members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) started protesting. Due to this BJP councilors also started raising slogans against him. There was a push and a scuffle between the two sides. AAP councilors climbed on the seat of the pro tem speaker. During this, some councilors were seen lifting the chair and slamming it. Some fell due to the shock. Some got hurt.

LG appoints BJP corporator Satya Sharma as pro tem speaker for the mayoral election. Earlier, AAP had proposed the name of Mukesh Goyal. AAP objected to Satya's name. After this, as soon as Protem Speaker Satya started administering oaths to the nominated members of LG, AAP started protesting and shouting slogans.
The Aam Aadmi Party says that the nominated members are not sworn in first, but the BJP is changing the tradition. BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi said that AAP leaders are not aware of the rules. That's why they are creating a ruckus. Why fear when they are in majority? You MPs do the same thing in the Rajya Sabha.
On the other hand, Congress decided not to participate in the mayoral election. AAP MLA Atishi has accused the Congress of favoring the BJP after she decided not to contest the polls. 273 members will vote in the Mayor's election. A figure of 133 is needed for a majority. AAP has 150 votes while BJP has 113 votes.
LG's side came, 10 nominated members under the Act
A statement came from the office of Delhi's LG VK Saxena. It said that 10 people have been nominated under the Delhi Municipal Corporation 1957 Act. It has been said in this act that people who have experience or knowledge of municipal corporations can nominate them as LG. Their age should be more than 25 years. These members cannot vote in the election for mayor or deputy mayor.

A contest between AAP's candidate style and BJP's line
AAP's Aadmi Party has fielded Shelly Oberoi for mayor, while Rekha Gupta is in the fray from the BJP. Whereas, AAP has nominated Mohammad Iqbal and BJP has nominated Kamal Bagdi for Deputy Mayor.
3 color ballot papers will be used in the election
The color code has been fixed for this election. White, green, and pink colored ballot papers will be used. In this, votes will be cast for mayor with a white ballot paper. The green ballot paper will be used for the deputy mayor's election and the pink ballot paper for the standing committee members.
AAP has majority
273 members will vote in the Mayor's election. A figure of 138 is needed for a majority. In the absence of Congress, a figure of 133 is needed. AAP has 134 councilors. Apart from this, there are 3 Rajya Sabha MPs and 13 MLAs. BJP has a total of 113 votes including 7 MPs and 1 MLA. There, there are 9 councilors of Congress and two councilors of Independents. In this election, 250 councilors along with 10 MPs (7 Lok Sabha MPs and 3 Rajya Sabha MPs), and 13 assembly members will vote.
Congress bid – If AAP gets a majority then Kejriwal should be made its mayor
