Corona In India: 2.51 lakh new cases, 627 deaths in 24 hours; Schools can be opened across the country, the government can take a decision

On Thursday, 2 lakh 51 thousand 627 new corona infections were found in the country. During this 3.4 lakh people were cured, while 627 people died. A day before this, on Wednesday, 2,86,384 people were found infected and 573 people died. Compared to the previous day, 34,757 fewer infected have been found i.e. a decrease of 12% has been seen in new cases.

 

At present, the number of active cases i.e. patients undergoing treatment in the country is 21.05 lakh. Since the beginning of the epidemic, about 4.06 crore people have been affected by the infection in the country.

 

The vaccination of children in the age group of 13 to 17 years has gained momentum in the country. Meanwhile, the central government may soon issue guidelines to open schools across the country. According to news agency ANI, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has sought suggestions from the National Expert Group regarding opening the school. The expert group will suggest a model for opening the school.

The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has permitted Bharat Biotech for the trial of an intranasal booster dose. According to the DCGA, the booster dose trials will be done at 9 different places.

 

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will hold a review meeting on the situation of Corona in 8 states and UTs. Medical preparedness to deal with Omicron will be reviewed in the meeting to be held at 2.30 pm on Friday. These states and UTs include Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andaman, and Nicobar.

 

In Delhi, 79% of samples sent for genome sequencing in January are Omicron positive. According to the Delhi government, this has been confirmed in the samples sent for sequencing from January 1 to 23. At the same time, according to the National Center for Disease Control, Omicron has been confirmed in 75% of the test samples sent for sequencing in the country in January.

 

According to the Health Ministry, 95% of the adult population of the country has been given both doses of the vaccine. At the same time, 74% of the population has taken both doses. So far, a total of 164.44 crore doses have been administered in the country. 49.69 lakh doses were administered on Thursday.

 

A review meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) was held on Thursday, in which it has been decided to remove the weekend curfew from the capital. DDMA has given instructions to open theatres-bars and restaurants with 50% capacity. At the same time, government offices will also open with 50% capacity. Apart from this, 200 people will be able to attend the wedding ceremony.

 

The number of hospitalized patients is decreasing from Mumbai, the city with the highest infection to the country's capital Delhi. Looking at the trend of the last seven to 15 days in these cities, it seems that the peak of the third wave of the epidemic has passed. Mumbai has seen a 61% reduction in the number of patients admitted to hospitals and 28% in Delhi.

 

Condition of 5 most affected states

 

1. Kerala: Omicron variant confirmed in 94% of test samples

On Thursday, 51,739 new infected have been found in the state, while 42,653 patients have been cured and 11 people died. A day before this, 49,771 new infections were found on Wednesday and 63 people died. There has been an increase of 1,968 in new cases on Thursday as compared to Wednesday.

 

So far, a total of 58.26 lakh people have come under the grip of infection. Of these, 54.63 lakh people have been cured, while 52,434 people died. The number of active cases is 3,09,489. Here the positivity rate is 44.60%, the day before this the positivity rate is 48.06%.

 

Kerala Health Minister Veena George said on Thursday that continuous genome sequencing of corona positive samples is being done in the state, so far 94% of the samples tested have confirmed Omicron variant and 6% delta variant. At the same time, 80% of the passengers from abroad have got Omicron and 20% have got the Delta variant.

 

2. Karnataka: 22% drop in new cases in a day

On Thursday, 38,083 new cases of corona have been found in Karnataka. 67,236 patients have defeated Corona, while 49 corona infected have died. Earlier on Wednesday, 48,905 new cases of the corona were found and 39 corona infected died. At present, the number of patients undergoing treatment here is 3.28 lakh, while the positivity rate is 20.44%.

 

3. Tamil Nadu: The pace of new cases stabilizes

On Thursday, 28,515 new cases have been reported here. At the same time, 28,620 people have been cured of the disease and 53 people have lost their lives. Earlier on Wednesday, 29,976 new cases were found and 47 people died. So far, a total of 32.52 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 30.01 lakh people have been cured, while 37,412 people have died. Here the active case is 2,13,534 and the positivity rate is 19.42%.

 

4. Maharashtra: More cured patients than new cases

In Maharashtra, 25,425 new cases of the corona were found in the last 24 hours. During this 42 people died and 36,708 patients were cured. On Wednesday, 35,756 new cases were found and 79 people died. Now the total active cases in the state have come down to 2.87 lakh. So far, a total of 76.30 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 71.97 lakh people have been cured, while 1.42 lakh people died. The positivity rate is 17.47%, a day before that on Wednesday, the positivity rate was 19.54%.

 

5. Andhra Pradesh: Positivity rate hiked by 5%

In the last 24 hours, 13,474 new cases were reported here, while 10,290 people were cured and 9 people died. On Wednesday, 13,819 new cases were reported here and 9 people died. So far 22.36 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 21.11 lakh people have been cured, while 14,579 people have died. Active cases are 1,09,493. The positivity rate has increased from 27.71% to 32.26%.

 

CM Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated the Medical and Industrial Oxygen Plant in Chittoor district on Thursday. The capacity of this plant is 220 tonnes per day.

 

10 other major states

 

1. Gujarat: Double the number of patients cured of new cases

12,911 new cases were reported here on Thursday, while 23,197 patients were cured and 22 people died. Earlier on Wednesday, 14,781 new cases were found and 21 people died. So far, more than 11.20 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 9.92 lakh people have been cured. The total active cases here are 1,17,884. The positivity rate is 10.67%.

 

2. Uttar Pradesh: Decrease of about 8 thousand inactive cases

In the last 24 hours, 8,857 people were found infected here. 16,786 people have been cured and 20 deaths have been recorded. Earlier on Wednesday, 10,876 people were found infected and 23 deaths were recorded. So far 19.89 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 18.93 lakh people have been cured, while 23,126 people died. 72,393 patients are currently undergoing treatment in the state. There is a decrease in the number of new cases for the last 3 days. The number of active cases i.e. patients undergoing treatment has come down by 7949.

 

3. Rajasthan: Decrease in the number of new infected

On Thursday, 9,227 new cases were reported here, while 16,087 people were cured and 20 people died. Earlier on Wednesday, 13,049 new cases were reported and 21 people died. So far, 11.71 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 10.74 lakh people have been cured, while 9,181 people died. There are 87,2687 active cases here.

 

The infection rate in Rajasthan doubled in a single day. Every second sample is getting corona positive. This is the situation when 40 thousand samples were taken less in a day. 66000 samples were taken on Wednesday. Had there been as much sampling as on Wednesday, then the number of positive could have crossed 30 thousand, because today the infection rate in the state is 46 percent, which is more than double as compared to yesterday.

 

4. Madhya Pradesh: 71,203 Active Cases

There were 9,532 new cases in 24 hours and 10,547 people were cured. During this 6 patients have died. A day before this, on Wednesday, 9,966 new cases were reported here and 8 patients died. So far, more than 9.33 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 8.51 lakh people have been cured, while 10,547 people died. 71,203 patients are currently undergoing treatment. The positivity rate is 11.94%.

 

5. Haryana: The pace of new cases has stabilized

In the last 24 hours, 5,770 people were found infected in the state. 9759 people have been cured and 18 people have died. Here on Wednesday, 6,351 people were found infected and 7 people died. So far, more than 9.32 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 8.77 lakh people have been cured, while 10,237 people died. A total of 35,558 patients are currently undergoing treatment. There has also been a decrease in active cases by 4,007, while the positivity rate is 17.87%.

 

6. Delhi: One third positivity rate in 2 weeks

On Thursday, 4,291 new cases were registered in Delhi and 34 people died. 9,397 people have also been cured. A day before this, 7,498 new cases were registered on Wednesday and 29 people died. So far, more than 18.15 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 17.56 lakh have been cured while 25,744 have died. The positivity rate in Delhi was 30% on January 15, which has come down continuously to 10.59% on Thursday.

 

7. Chhattisgarh: The number of new infected decreased

On the previous day, 4,645 new infections were found in the state. 6,516 patients were cured and 19 patients died. On Wednesday, 3,318 new infections were found and 10 patients died. So far, 11.13 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 10.72 lakh people have been cured, while 13,798 people died. A total of 27,290 patients are currently undergoing treatment. The positivity rate is 10.62%, the last day the positivity rate was 15%.

 

8. West Bengal: Decrease inactive cases by 11,644

On Thursday, 3,608 new cases have been found in West Bengal. During this, 15,216 patients were cured, while 36 people have died. On Wednesday, 4,969 new cases were found here and 34 people died. A total of 19.82 lakh cases have been found in the state so far, while 19.06 lakh people have recovered. A total of 20,481 people have died. Active cases are 55,725. There has been a decrease of 11,644 inactive cases on the last day. The positivity rate here is 9.02%.

 

9. Punjab: Double the number of deaths compared to the previous day

In Punjab, 4,093 new infections have been found on the last day and 48 people have died. 7,423 people have also recovered from the infection. A day before this, 4,990 new infected were found on Wednesday and 22 people died. So far 7.32 lakh people have come under the grip of infection in the state. Of these, 6.78 lakh people have been cured, while 17,129 people died. Active cases are 36,941.

 

10. Bihar: Double the number of new cases cured

1,034 new infected have been found here on Thursday. 33,08 people were cured and 1 infected died. On Wednesday, 2120 new infected were found in the state and 4 had died. So far, more than 8.18 lakh people have come under the grip of infection. Of these, 7.96 lakh people have been cured, while 12,205 people died. A total of 10,321 patients are currently undergoing treatment, while there has been a decrease of 2,275 inactive cases.
