External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said in a UNSC meeting, the Internet is a powerful tool in the toolkit of terrorist groups

A two-day special meeting of the Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) of the United Nations Security Council is being held in India. The two-day special meeting of the Counter-Terrorism Committee of the United Nations Security Council began on 28 October in the city of Mumbai, India. The second day's session of the meeting is being held in New Delhi on Saturday.

 

Members of the international community gathered on the second day of the UN Security Council's Counter-Terrorism Committee meeting. During this, a minute's silence was observed in the memory of the survivors of terrorism, the victims, and their families.

 

Technologies are cheaper and more readily available

Ruchira Kamboj, India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations and Chair of the Anti-Terrorism Committee, said at the meeting in Delhi, “As diverse technologies become cheaper and more readily available, terrorists use new technology for different purposes. '

 

Terrorism is one of the top priorities in the current term

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar also attended today's meeting. Speaking on the occasion, he said, "Our current tenure in the Security Council has seen terrorism become one of the top priorities, and that is why the Council is organizing this special meeting of its Counter-Terrorism Committee in India."

 

In the special meeting of the Anti-Terrorism Committee in Delhi, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said, "You all have been here in Delhi today for this special meeting of the CTC which reflects the focus of the member states of the UNSC on the important and emerging aspects of terrorism."

 

Powerful Tools in the Toolkit of Internet Terrorist Groups

In the meeting, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar emphasized that the Internet and social media platforms have become powerful tools in the toolkit of terrorists and terrorist groups to spread propaganda, bigotry, and conspiracy theories aimed at destabilizing society.

 

The special issues of this special meeting of the committee are

Internet and social media, finance for terrorism, unmanned air systems ie drones, etc. In this meeting, the use of new and emerging technologies by terrorist groups and the threats arising out of them will be discussed. The second day's session of the meeting is being held in New Delhi on Saturday.

 

Today's meeting is being held at Taj Palace, Delhi

This meeting of the United Nations Security Council is being held at the Taj Palace in Delhi from 9.30 am to 6.30 pm. There will be a press conference after the meeting. On the previous day too, a meeting was held at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai. During this, the ambassadors of all the fifteen member countries of the United Nations Security Council paid tribute at the memorial of those killed in the terrorist attack. Chinese diplomats will also participate in today's meeting.

 

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar appeals to all to rise above differences

Let us inform you that in yesterday's meeting, External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar appealed to all countries to rise above political differences to deal with terrorism. Dr. Jaishankar said this in his address at the inauguration of the Special Meeting of the Counter-Terrorism Committee of the United Nations Security Council in Mumbai. He said regretfully the UN Security Council has been unable to act in some cases for political reasons.

It undermines our collective credibility and collective interests, he said. The External Affairs Minister expressed unhappiness over the fact that the main perpetrators of the 26/11 attacks are yet to be punished. He said that the attack was not only on Mumbai but on the international community. He said citizens of specific countries were identified before the killings.

 

Dr. Jaishankar said that we should send this message in solidarity that the international community will never fail to hold terrorists accountable and bring them to justice. Dr. Jaishankar said that even though many areas of the world are plagued by terrorism, India understands its value more than others. Dr. Jaishankar also presented a 5-point agenda for the consideration of the committee.
