Digital Personal Data Protection Bill: The government has presented the draft of the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2022. It has been introduced to make the digital world secure. Now a company has to get approval for the use of your data. Along with this, a provision penalty of up to Rs 250 crore has been fixed for misuse of data. Suggestions and objections have been sought from all stakeholders for this draft. It is reported that the government may introduce the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2022 in the budget session. Let's know about it in detail.

 

Rs 250 crore penalty provision

 

This bill has been brought to keep data safe in the digital world. After this bill is fully implemented, the data cannot be used without the consent of the consumer. Companies will have to give all the details in clear and easy language to every digital citizen. Additionally, the customer will be able to withdraw their consent at any time. The provision the penalty of up to Rs 250 crore has been fixed in this bill for misuse. It is written in this that if the government wants, it can keep agencies or states out of its ambit in the interest of the nation.

 

Data storage will be done in the country itself

 

For the storage of data, the server can be in the country or friendly countries only. The government will release the list of these friendly countries soon. Government agencies and institutions will be able to keep the data with them for an unlimited period. A board will be constituted for data security. It will be mandatory to follow the board's order, although an appeal can be made in the High Court.

The bill is defined in the draft as - "a bill to protect any kind of data".
