Kamaljit Sehrawat will be BJP's candidate for the Standing Committee, while BJP has declared Kamal Bagri as its candidate for Deputy Mayor. Independent councilor Gajendra Daral, who joined BJP on Monday itself, will also be BJP's candidate for the Standing Committee.
BJP got defeated
The BJP, which has been in MCD for 15 years, has had to face defeat from the Aam Aadmi Party in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi this time. For the first time after unification, in the elections held in 250 wards, BJP won 104 seats while AAP won 134 seats. Only 9 seats have come into the account of Congress. After the defeat, the BJP had said not to contest the mayoral election, but now the BJP has fielded its candidates, spoiling the game of the Aam Aadmi Party.
