A 22-year-old man, who allegedly threatened to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi over phone calls to the Police Control Room (PCR), has been arrested from Northeast Delhi's Khajuri Khas area. Officials gave this information on Friday.

According to officials, the accused has been identified as Salman alias Armaan and the accused told the police that he called because he wanted to go to jail. He told that he is addicted to drugs and was released from the juvenile home. According to officials, he was sent here in 2018 in a murder case.

Police said the accused called the PCR on Thursday midnight on 112 and threatened to kill Prime Minister Modi. A senior police officer said the number from which the call had come was immediately traced and the number was shared with the district police unit, which traced the caller to Khajuri Khas.

According to a preliminary investigation, Salman was intoxicated at the time of calling. Her father had scolded her at around ten o'clock in the night. The senior officer said that during interrogation, the accused told the police that he called because he wanted to go to jail. On being asked why he wants to go to jail, he said, there in my mind.

He said that Salman also told the police that he was a drug addict and had taken a little drug on Thursday at around 7 pm. Police said that senior officers of Delhi Police will interrogate him along with Intelligence Bureau officials as per protocol before taking any legal action.
