
New Delhi, March 24 (IANS) The national capital will host a day-long festival on April 11 to promote the culture and cuisine of the northeast, organisers said on Tuesday.
An initiative by the Meghalaya government, the festival "Songs and Dances of the North East" - to be held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium - will give a glimpse into the rich culture of the eight states comprising the region.
"The goal is to deliver, engage and exhibit the best of northeast in a creative and exciting atmosphere bringing the people together under one platform of unified diversity," said a statement.
The chief ministers and governors of all eight states - Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura, Sikkim, Manipur and Nagaland - will be present at the festival.
