The number of investors in the stock markets of the country is continuously increasing. In the quarter of July to September 2022, 48 lakh Demat accounts of CDSL were opened. These figures prove that the number of participants in the Indian stock exchanges is continuously increasing.

According to Central Depository Services India (CDSL), 48 lakh demat accounts were opened in the September quarter of the financial year 2022-23. It is the first and only listed depository in Asia. CDSL became the first depository to have 7 crore Demat accounts in August 2022.

Last week, the Central Depository declared its financial results for the half-year ending September 30, 2022. During this period, the total income of the depository grew 7 percent year-on-year to Rs 316 crore, while net profit declined by 8 percent to Rs 138 crore during the first half of 2022-23 (April-September).

At the same time, during the July-September quarter, total income increased by three percent to Rs 170 crore, compared to the same quarter last year, while net profit declined 7 percent to Rs 80 crore. CDSL MD & CEO Nehal Vora announced CDSL's Q2 results on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras and expressed happiness over it.

CDSL is a depository in the country. It secures investors' shares, bonds, debentures, and securities in electronic form instead of paper form. CDSL works for the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). This is the second depository in India. Its headquarter is in Mumbai. It is a kind of share bank.
