The excitement surrounding the India vs Pakistan match at the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2027 has reached extraordinary levels, with ticket demand significantly exceeding the seating capacity of the stadium. According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the highly anticipated match has received more than 84 lakh ticket applications, making it the most sought-after fixture of the tournament.

The India-Pakistan clash is scheduled to take place on October 10, 2027, at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa. With the stadium's reported capacity of approximately 34,000 spectators, the number of ticket applications is nearly 247 times its seating capacity.

India vs Pakistan Match Receives 84 Lakh Ticket Applications

The ICC's latest ticket ballot update revealed that the India-Pakistan match has attracted 8,397,294 ticket applications. The demand has exceeded even that for the World Cup final, highlighting the enormous popularity of cricket's biggest rivalry.

The World Cup final, scheduled for November 21, 2027, at the same Johannesburg venue, has received 7,900,944 ticket applications.

ICC Receives More Than 12 Crore World Cup Ticket Applications

The ticket demand is not limited to India-Pakistan or the final. The ICC has received 120,809,467 ticket applications for the entire tournament as of November 1, 2026.

According to the governing body's announcement, approximately 2.8 million unique fans from 193 countries have registered for the ticket ballot.

The distinction is important: the 12 crore figure represents ticket applications, not 12 crore individual fans.

South Africa Matches Attract 10.5 Crore Applications

South Africa has emerged as a major centre of ticket demand, with its 41 scheduled World Cup fixtures attracting more than 105 million ticket applications.

Matches involving South Africa have received nearly 26 million applications, reflecting substantial interest in the host nation's games.

Zimbabwe has also recorded strong demand, with ticket requests crossing 13 million. The Zimbabwe-India group match at Victoria Falls has attracted more than 3.3 million applications.

Meanwhile, Namibia's six scheduled matches have received over two million ticket requests.

ODI World Cup 2027 Ticket Registration: How the Lottery Works

The ICC's ticket registration process is based on a ballot system rather than a first-come, first-served approach.

Fans can register for the ticket ballot until November 21, 2026, at 23:59 Central Africa Time.

The ticket application process includes the following steps:

Visit the official ICC World Cup ticket website.

Create an account.

Select the matches for which tickets are desired.

Submit the ballot application before the deadline.

Registration is free, and applicants do not need to pay when entering the ballot.

If applications for a particular match exceed its available ticket allocation, successful applicants will be selected through a randomised ballot. Those selected will receive information about purchasing tickets.

The ICC has clarified that registering early does not improve an applicant's chances of securing tickets.

ODI World Cup Returns to Africa After 24 Years

The ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2027 will return to Africa for the first time since the 2003 edition.

South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will jointly host the tournament, which will feature 14 teams and 57 matches across 12 venues.

The tournament will begin on October 2, 2027, with the final scheduled for November 21.

South Africa will host matches at eight venues, Zimbabwe at three venues, and Namibia at one venue. Namibia will host senior men's Cricket World Cup matches for the first time.
