Gold Price Today: Gold Continues to Rise in August
Gold prices have remained volatile throughout 2026 but have maintained an overall upward trend compared with the end of last year.
On December 31, 2025, the price of 10 grams of gold was above ₹1.33 lakh. It has now climbed to around ₹1.52 lakh, representing an increase of roughly ₹19,000.
During the year, gold also touched an all-time high of approximately ₹1.76 lakh per 10 grams, according to the figures cited in the report.
Investors and consumers are therefore closely watching the latest gold rate as prices continue to fluctuate.
Silver Price Today: Silver Reaches ₹2.34 Lakh Per Kg
Silver has also witnessed significant volatility.
The price of one kilogram of silver stood at around ₹2.30 lakh on December 31, 2025. It has now reached approximately ₹2.34 lakh, representing an increase of around ₹4,000.

Gold Price Outlook: Can Gold Reach ₹1.60 Lakh?
Commodity expert Ajay Kedia expects gold and silver to remain attractive, although investors should exercise caution when entering the market.
According to Kedia, gold and silver have corrected significantly from their previous peaks, which has renewed investor interest.
Kedia expects gold could potentially return to around ₹1.60 lakh per 10 grams by the end of the year, while silver could move towards ₹2.80 lakh per kilogram.
These are market projections rather than guaranteed price targets, and actual prices can be influenced by factors including global interest rates, inflation, currency movements, geopolitical developments and international bullion prices.
Should You Invest in Gold and Silver ETFs?
Investors who want exposure to precious metals without purchasing physical gold or silver can consider Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs).
Gold and silver ETFs track the underlying prices of the respective metals and can be traded on stock exchanges in a manner similar to shares.
However, investors do not receive physical gold or silver when purchasing ETF units. When the investment is sold, the investor receives the applicable value based on the prevailing market price and the ETF's market performance.
Investors generally need a demat and trading account to buy and sell exchange-traded units.
How to Invest in Gold and Silver ETFs
Investing in ETFs involves purchasing units through a stock-market trading platform.
The basic process is:
Open a demat and trading account with a registered broker.
Search for the relevant gold or silver ETF.
Check the ETF's price, liquidity and other details.
Place a buy order through the trading platform.
The purchased units are credited to the demat account according to the applicable settlement cycle.
Investors can sell the units through their trading account when they select to exit.
Investors should compare expense ratios, liquidity, tracking performance and other relevant factors before selecting an ETF.
Two Things to Remember When Buying Gold From a Jeweller
1. Buy Hallmarked Gold
Consumers should check for BIS hallmarking when purchasing gold jewellery or other eligible gold products.
The hallmark provides information related to the purity of the gold. Buyers should verify the hallmark and associated identification details before completing a purchase.
Gold is sold in different purity levels, including 24-karat, 22-karat and 18-karat. The price therefore varies depending on purity.
2. Cross-Check the Gold Price
Before buying gold jewellery, consumers should verify the applicable gold rate for the day and confirm the weight and purity of the item.
Gold prices can vary depending on purity, making charges, taxes and other applicable costs.
It is therefore advisable to compare rates from reliable sources and ask the jeweller for a detailed bill showing the weight, purity, making charges and applicable taxes.
