Amidst the ongoing controversy over the new IT rules, the government has issued a final notice to Twitter, giving an ultimatum. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology wrote on Twitter that it is disappointed with your replies received on 28 May and 2 June; Because neither the situation has been clarified nor the new rules have been fully implemented regarding what you were asked.

The government has told Twitter that giving you the last chance; Otherwise, the concession which is being given will be abolished and you will be responsible for this. The government says that Twitter has not yet informed about the Chief Compliance Officer. The nodal contact person nominated is not an employee of Twitter in India. Also, the office address mentioned is that of a law firm.

Earlier, another action of Twitter had increased the displeasure of the central government. It was reported early on Saturday that Twitter has removed blue ticks from the personal Twitter handles of several leaders, including Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat. However, seeing the controversy erupting, Twitter soon restored the blue-tick of Naidu's account, but the accounts of other leaders are still unverified.

Earlier, clarifying the matter, Twitter said that his account was not active since July 2020. Therefore, as per our verification policy, we can unverify such accounts without any notice. At present, Naidu's account has been re-verified.

Accounts of many RSS leaders also unverified

Twitter also unverified the Twitter accounts of several leaders of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Apart from Bhagwat, big names like Arun Kumar, Bhaiyaji Joshi, and Suresh Soni are also included in this. Meanwhile, BJP Mumbai spokesperson Suresh Nakhua questioned the action of Twitter. He called it an attack on the Constitution of India.

No tweets from the last 11 months

The personal account of the Vice President is followed by 1.3 million people. There has been no tweet from his Twitter account for the last 11 months. The last tweet from this account was on 23 July 2020.

ministry angry with twitter

The IT ministry was angry with Twitter's unilateral action. According to sources, the ministry believes that such a treatment cannot be done to a person of the country's number-2 authority. Twitter's intention behind this is wrong. Twitter's argument in the matter is also completely wrong.

What is Blue Tick?

According to Twitter, a blue verified badge (blue tick) means that the account is genuine and in the public interest. To get this tick, it is very important to have an active Twitter account. Currently, Twitter verifies specific accounts of government companies, brands and non-profit organizations, news organizations and journalists, entertainment, sports and e-sports, activists, organizers, and other influencers.

In what situation does Twitter remove blue tick

According to the terms of Twitter, if someone changes the name of his handle or the user does not use his account in the way based on which was verified. In this situation Blue Tick i.e. Blue Verified Badge can be removed without any notice.
