Green Hydrogen: 'The world is going through a period of important change', PM Modi said about climate change

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday addressed the International Conference on Green Hydrogen. PM Modi said that the world is going through a period of significant transformation. There is a greater realization that climate change is not just a matter of the future, the impact of climate change is being felt here and now.

 

Prime Minister Modi said that energy transition and sustainability have now become the center of global policy discussions. India is committed to creating a clean and green planet. We were the first among the G20 countries to meet our Paris commitments on green energy. These commitments were met 9 years ahead of the 2030 target.

Non-fossil fuel capacity increased by nearly 300%

 

He said that India's installed non-fossil fuel capacity has increased by nearly 300% in the last 10 years. India's solar power capacity has grown by more than 3,000% in the last 10 years. But we are not resting on such achievements. We are focused on strengthening existing solutions. We are also looking at new and innovative areas. This is where green hydrogen comes into the picture!

 

Emerged as a promising addition to the energy landscape

 

PM Modi said that green hydrogen is emerging as a promising addition to the world's energy landscape. It can help in decarbonizing industries that are difficult to electrify."

 

'Humanity faced many challenges in the past'

 

"I am confident that this conference will help exchange many ideas for the betterment. Humanity has faced many challenges in the past. Each time, we overcame adversities through collective and innovative solutions. It is with this spirit of collective and innovative actions that we will move towards a sustainable future," he said.
