From 'Victoria No. 203' to 'Taxi No. 9211', Hindi cinema has a long and interesting tradition of comic thriller stories. Comic thrillers are considered to be the slickest category of stories and more recently, stalwarts like Subhash Ghai and Sameer Nair have burnt their hands in '36 Farmhouse' and 'Kaun Banegi Shikharvati' respectively. The task of regaining the lost status of the Hindi crime thriller is now being spearheaded by two filmmakers who, along with Manoj Bajpayee, have given a new desi color to the spy thriller series 'Family Man'. These two filmmakers are Raj and DK and after making the film 'Cinemabandi' for Netflix, they are going to bring the series 'Guns and Gulabs' for this OTT.
Raj and DK i.e. director duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK. Both of them have been away from the big screen for a long time and these days have completely devoted themselves to OTT stories. In between making the first and second season of 'Family Man' with Manoj Bajpayee, the duo has also started an OTT series with Shahid Kapoor and Raashi Khanna. The work of this series is almost completed and the work on its post-production is going on in full swing.
Apart from this, Raj and DK have also recently signed actor Rajkummar Rao for one of their projects, in which Bhumi Pednekar is discussed with them. This may also be an attempt to heat Rajkummar Rao's Badhaai Do as the trailer of the story of a PT teacher who falls in love with a lesbian girl who has not been liked much. Rajkummar Rao is engrossed in his career pace with two houses ahead, four houses behind.
Now on Monday, the series 'Guns and Gulabs' that Netflix has announced and whose names are tossed as directors of Raj and DK, will be revealed only after their heads or tails fall, which series is this? Like all other Mumbai filmmakers, Raj and DK are no longer making series with OTT money. He is making a series and selling it to OTT. 'Guns and Roses' is also one such story. This will be his first series with Netflix as a director.
This time too Suman Kumar and Sumit Arora assisted Raj and DK in writing the web series 'Guns Aur Gulabs'. In the recently held annual meeting of Netflix, its condition was found to be very bad in India. The previous teams of this OTT have spent all the unsold or packaged goods of Hindi cinema on Netflix, due to which its branding value has deteriorated in India. Netflix's marketing team also does not have an idea of the OTT market spreading in the towns and small cities of the country, nor has this team been able to identify any neutral media platforms so far. Experts say that Netflix will have to change its marketing strategy to be successful in India, as of now these people are trying to sell 'Sacred Games' to those who watch 'Sanskar TV'.
