India's 'Prince' i.e. Shubman Gill turned 24 on Friday. Gill is now being regarded as one of the best batsmen in the world. Shubman Gill made his international debut in the year 2019. Since then the flamboyant stroke-play player has achieved many feats year after year. Even now he is being considered as the successor of Virat Kohli.

 

The Punjab batsman made his big debut for the India U-19 World Cup-winning team in 2018. He scored 372 runs at an average of 124.00 with the help of 1 century and 3 fifties in 5 innings of 6 matches as the deputy of captain Prithvi Shaw. This also includes a best score of 102 against Pakistan in the semi-finals. He was India's leading run-scorer in the tournament. He was also a 'Player of the Series' award winner.

Gill is a rising star in India

Shubman Gill has scored 966 runs in 18 Tests for India at an average of 32.20. He has scored two centuries and 4 half-centuries in 33 innings, in which his best score is 128. Against Australia, he scored 259 runs in three matches at an average of 51.80. Gill played an inning of 91 runs during the historic victory at Gabba.

Gill has scored 1,514 runs in 29 ODIs for India at an average of 63.08. He has scored 4 centuries and 7 fifties in 29 innings, with a best score of 208. Gill scored 208 runs in 149 balls with the help of 19 fours and 9 sixes, scoring a double-century against New Zealand in January. The young batsman from Punjab became the youngest player (23 years) to score a double century in ODI cricket history.

 

Gill has scored 304 runs in 11 T20Is at an average of 30.40 and a strike rate above 146. He has scored 1 century in this format. He is the youngest player to score a century in T20Is for India. At the age of 23, he is the youngest all-format centenarian in the world. In total, in 58 international matches, he has scored 2,784 runs at an average of 43.50, including 7 centuries and 12 half-centuries in 73 innings.

Scored three centuries and four half-centuries while playing for GT in the year 2023.

At the age of 23, he is the youngest 'Orange Cap' winner with the most runs (890) in IPL history.

 

Gill is the second-highest run scorer in an IPL season. Virat Kohli scored 973 runs in 2016 with four centuries and 7 fifties.

Although Shubman Gill still has a long way to go, the successes he has achieved in such a short time prove that he is the 'Prince of Indian Cricket'. He will continue to improve with time and under the guidance of senior players, he will undoubtedly achieve great heights in the years to come.
