
Vigilance has increased in Himachal Pradesh after cases of Human Metapneumo Virus (HMPV) were reported in the country. Under the instructions of the government, the Health Department has asked all hospitals to conduct RTPCR tests on patients with severe symptoms of cold, cough, fever, and phlegm. Also, there is a preparation to start a special lab, in which other tests will be done if the infection is not confirmed.
The Health Department has asked the hospital administration to monitor patients related to influenza and severe acute respiratory. Instructions have also been given to keep an eye on people coming to Himachal from outside states. Separate wards have been arranged for such patients in hospitals. However, the Health Department claims that this is a common virus, so there is no need to panic. Infections with this virus have been happening in the country before as well. Health Secretary M Sudha held a virtual meeting with the principals of all medical colleges, Chief Medical Officers of the districts, and Medical Superintendents on Tuesday. The Health Secretary has asked to keep an eye on patients related to influenza and severe acute respiratory.
Earlier, a meeting was held with the health secretaries of all the states and union territories under the chairmanship of the Union Health Secretary. The Health Department has also instructed that children who have symptoms of fever and cough, those children and their family members must wear masks.
