Rajnath Singh had said, 'Lies were spread against Savarkar. It was repeatedly said that he had filed many mercy petitions before the British government. But the truth is that he did not file the Mercy petition for his release. Generally, a prisoner has every right that if he wants to file a mercy petition, he can. Mahatma Gandhi had asked him to file a mercy petition.
