In what trouble is Congress due to Rahul Gandhi's statement on China and Army?

Posted on 20th Dec 2022 06:15 pm by rohit kumar

On completion of 100 days of Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi reached Jaipur on September 19. There, during a press conference, he fiercely targeted the central government regarding the clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, he also gave such a statement, due to which Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been surrounded from all sides. He said, 'Chinese soldiers are beating our jawans in Arunachal Pradesh'.

Regarding his statement, BJP has linked the word 'beaten' with the insult of the army. A serious image of Rahul Gandhi is being created amid Bharat Jodo Yatra. In such a situation, the question arises whether such a statement is like hitting an ax in its foot Congress. Looking at the aggressiveness of the BJP, it seems that the party will make it an issue in the upcoming elections as well. If this happens, will Congress be at a loss?

'BJP will not get much benefit'

Speaking to ABP, senior journalist Rashid Kidwai, who keeps a close eye on the Congress, says, 'BJP is certainly cashing in on Rahul's statement, but it will not give any major benefit to the BJP because the tension with China has not ended.

Kidwai says in the use of the word 'beating'- his tongue has slipped, but his motive was not wrong. He wanted to ask the central government why China is saying this again and again and why no strong stand has been taken on it so far.

On the other hand, Congress spokesperson Pankaj Srivastava says, 'If the opposition does not ask serious questions on the Chinese aggression, then who will? Seeing the way Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been expressing his love for China while being the Chief Minister, raising the question of Rahul Gandhi is justified. Even after becoming the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi had first called the Chinese President and made him swing. Despite all this, our army was attacked first in Doklam, then in Galwan, and now in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh. In such a situation, if Rahul Gandhi does not speak on this, then on what issue will he speak?

Rahul's statement heavy on him only?

Congress spokesperson Pankaj Srivastava says this- 'BJP wants to reduce the seriousness of that question by getting stuck in words. If he attacked and Rahul told him to beat him, then what does it change?

Srivastava said, 'I don't think Rahul Gandhi has used any such word in his statement which is insensitive and derogatory. Is it not a fact that our jawans were injured in this skirmish? You can call that word an attack, but it will not make the question wrong.

Reminded me of the incident of 1962

Remembering 1962 in defense of Rahul, Pankaj says – We should go to reality more than words. During the Indo-China war of 1962, there was also a debate in Parliament, where the opposition made sharp attacks. No one called Atal Bihari Vajpayee a "traitor" for taking out a march against the government in front of the Parliament Street police station.

Elections in Karnataka, MP, and Rajasthan, will be a loss?

Next year elections are to be held first in Karnataka and then in Rajasthan, MP, and Chhattisgarh. Will Rahul's statement harm the party there? In response to this question, Kidwai says – There are many factors in elections, and rhetoric is also one of them. If Sonia Gandhi had not called Narendra Modi a merchant of death in 2007, would the Congress have won the Gujarat elections? In the states where elections are to be held, local issues and candidate selection are important. The national issue will not dominate much.

What did Rahul say, on which there has been an uproar?

Rahul Gandhi accused the Center of the encounter between the Indian and Chinese Army in Tawang, Arunachal, and said that the Central Government is ignoring the issue of China. Rahul Gandhi said, 'An attempt is being made to hide the Tawang issue. China is preparing for war, but the Indian government is fast asleep without understanding the seriousness of the situation. China's preparation was not just for infiltration, but for a full-scale war.

Rahul Gandhi said that the Government of India should have worked strategically but it works on an event basis. When it comes to geopolitics, it is not the event but the power that matters. Rahul Gandhi further said that no one is asking questions about China. That country has not only occupied 2000 square kilometers of our country's land. Rather martyred 20 soldiers of India. They are beating our jawans in Arunachal Pradesh.

Statements sometimes made it difficult

Even before this, on the Uri attack in the year 2016, Congress hit itself in the foot by giving controversial statements. On the Uri attack, Congress had said, "Half of the people killed by the wrong policy of the government were not killed by the Pakistani terrorists in the Uri attack."

During the Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a thief in the Rafale case. A contempt notice was issued against Rahul after he used words like 'chowkidar chor hai'. Later, expressing regret for his comment, he apologized to the Supreme Court.

In a rally in Jharkhand, Rahul Gandhi termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' project as 'Rape in India'. There was a lot of uproar in the Lok Sabha on his statement.

After refusing to apologize for the Rape in India statement, Rahul said, I am Rahul Gandhi, not Rahul Savarkar. This statement of Rahul on Savarkar had heated the politics from Delhi to Maharashtra.
