IND vs. BAN Weather: Will rain become the villain in India's last Super Four match? Know how the weather is in Colombo today

Posted on 15th Sep 2023 11:46 am by rohit kumar

The teams of India and Bangladesh will face each other in the Super-Four round today. With this match the Super Four round of Asia Cup will end. Team India has already reached the final. In such a situation, this match will be for India only to test its preparations before the final. Rohit Sharma and company have been unbeaten in this tournament so far.

After the first match of the group stage against Pakistan was washed out due to rain, Team India has defeated Nepal by 10 wickets (DLS), Pakistan by 228 runs in the Super-4 match and Sri Lanka by 41 runs. However, all four of India's matches have been interrupted by rain. Almost every match of the Super Four has been disrupted due to heavy rain in Colombo. In such a situation, there is a possibility of rain disrupting the India-Bangladesh match.

According to the report of Accuweather, there is a 65 percent chance of rain in Colombo today. There is a possibility of thunderstorm there in the morning. At the same time, there is a possibility of rain as well as thunderstorm from 5 pm to 9 pm. The sky is likely to remain cloudy throughout the match. There is a 90 percent chance of cloudy skies in Colombo on Friday. Fast bowlers may get help due to overcast conditions. However, the chances of the entire match getting washed out are extremely slim. Intermittent rain may cause disruption. There is also a possibility of reduction in overs and use of Duckworth-Lewis rule.

The pitch at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo is known to favor the batsmen. However, as the match progresses, the spinners may get help from the pitch. Spinners played an important role in the India-Sri Lanka match. However, in the match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan on Thursday, the fast bowlers got help and the spinners were badly beaten. Sri Lanka had easily chased the score of 252 in 42 overs and eliminated Pakistan from the tournament. If it rains, the Duckworth-Lewis rule can be used and overs can also be reduced. For the result of the match, it is necessary to play full 20 overs. The final of the Asia Cup will also be played on this ground on September 17.

R Premadasa Stadium ODI Records and Stats

This stadium has hosted 145 ODI matches, in which the teams batting second emerged victorious only 56 times. The team batting first won 79 times. In Colombo, the captain who wins the toss looks to bat first and put runs on the board. However, given the rainy weather in Sri Lanka, the captain will not be 100% sure of batting first in today's match.
