Ravichandran Ashwin is ready to create history in the last match of the India vs England series. On March 7, the veteran spinner will play the 100th Test match of his career in Dharamshala. With this, he will join the club of Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

Ashwin, who has taken 507 wickets in 99 Test matches for India, will be the 14th Indian player to play his 100th Test match. 'God of Cricket' Sachin Tendulkar has played the maximum number of Test matches for India. He scored 15921 runs in 200 matches.

Ashwin will become the 14th Indian player

Ashwin had set a new record in the Rajkot Test against England. He became the second bowler after Anil Kumble to take 500 Test wickets for India. Now he will set a new record by playing the 100th match of his career. Before Ashwin, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Sourav Ganguly, Virat Kohli, Ishant Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virender Sehwag have played 100 test matches for India.

Most wickets taken on Indian soil

In the Ranchi Test, Ashwin became the bowler taking the highest wicket on Indian soil. Ashwin left former captain Anil Kumble behind in this matter. Kumble played a total of 63 matches on Indian grounds. During this period he took 350 wickets. He took a total of 619 wickets in 132 Tests in his career. Ashwin overtook him in his 59th match at home. He is the only Indian to take 100 wickets in Tests against England. He has also achieved this feat in the Ranchi Test only.
