India beat the Netherlands by 56 runs in a one-sided match. Electing to bat after winning the toss, the Indian team scored 179 runs for 2 wickets in 20 overs, thanks to half-centuries from Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and then Suryakumar. In response, the Netherlands team did not look aggressive even once while chasing the target and the Indian bowlers took advantage of this and put pressure on them from the beginning, as a result of which the Netherlands team lost only 9 wickets in 20 overs. Earlier, India set a target of 180 against the Netherlands, thanks to fifties from Virat Kohli (62 not out), captain Rohit Sharma (53), and Suryakumar Yadav (51 not out). India made a slow start in the Group 2 match by winning the toss and batting. Opener Lokesh Rahul got out leg before on the score of nine runs. Rohit also struggled for some time but in the eighth over, he opened his hands by hitting Logan van Beek for a six.
Rohit and Kohli shared a 73-run partnership for the second wicket. Before being dismissed, Rohit scored 53 runs in 39 balls with four fours and three sixes. After his wicket fell, Kohli shared an explosive 95-run partnership with Suryakumar to take India to 179/5 in 20 overs.
Kohli scored 62 runs in 44 balls with three fours and two sixes, his second consecutive fifty in the tournament, while Suryakumar played an explosive inning of 51 runs off 25 balls with seven fours and a six.
