
Once again the fire of violence is blazing in Manipur. Two commandos of Manipur Police have been martyred in the Moreh area. Meanwhile, six others have been injured. Manipur Police posted on Twitter that on Wednesday, militants attacked the state police team, in which two commandos named Somarjeet Meetei and Takhelambam Sileshwar Singh were martyred.

Manipur Police informed that today (January 17, 2024) morning, militants launched a violent attack on state forces using firearms and explosives in Moreh, Tengnoupal district. In this incident, Wangkhem Somarjit Meitei, a personnel of the 6th Manipur Rifles, was martyred in the line of duty. Besides this, another Manipur Police personnel Takhelambam Sileshwar Singh of the 10th IRB was also martyred in the attack by armed militants in Moreh.

The state police further informed that the forces were dealing with elements disturbing law and order along with the security of the state.
Apart from this, Manipur Police informed that Mohammad Kamal Hassan, Songsuathui Aimol, Mohammad Abdul Hasim, Nagasepam Wim, ASI Siddarth Thokchom, and K Premanand were injured.
Miscreants created a ruckus in Thoubal
Giving information about another incident in Thoubal district, the state police said that the mob opened fire on Border Security Force (BSF) personnel. Three soldiers were injured in this firing and they were transferred to Raj Medicity for treatment.
Manipur Police informed, "Today (January 17, 2024) a mob targeted the 3rd Indian Reserve Battalion (3IRB) at Khangabok in Thoubal district. The security forces dispersed them using the minimum necessary force. Further, the mob "An attempt was made to break into the Thoubal police headquarters, which created a ruckus. The security forces had to use legal force."

Police further informed that armed miscreants fired live rounds from among the crowd. As a result, three BSF personnel Constable Gaurav Kumar, ASI Sobram Singh, and ASI Ramji sustained bullet injuries. The injured security forces have been taken to Raj Medicity for treatment.
