India angry with UK's new travel rule

According to Times of India news, India has said that it is a discriminatory policy not to recognize the Covishield vaccine from Britain. India has warned to take steps against this stand of Britain.

India's Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla said that if Britain does not amend this new travel rule, then India will also retaliate.

Shringla said that India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has also raised this issue with Britain. The newspaper has written in its report that Britain has adopted this stance regarding India when the relations between the two countries have warmed and both the countries are moving towards making a trade agreement. This new travel rule of Britain is disturbing for Indians.

Shringla said, "The license for the Covishield vaccine has been received from a UK company. It is produced in India. At the request of the UK government, 50 lakh doses of Covishield have been sent to Britain from here. In such a situation, it is completely irrational not to recognize the Covishield vaccine.

According to Britain's new travel rule, Indians who have had the Serum Institute of India's Covishield vaccine will be treated like those who have not been vaccinated. Therefore, it will be mandatory for Indians to quarantine for 10 days in Britain.
