India-Australia Virtual Summit: PM Modi said - our strong relationship is necessary for Indo Pacific and the whole world

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison held talks today during the first India-Australia Virtual Summit. The Heads of State of the two countries attended the video conference during the India-Australia Virtual Summit. During this time there was a positive discussion about bilateral relations between the two countries and it was stressed to strengthen further.

 

Australian PM Scott Morrison said during the virtual summit that I wish I would have been there and would have been sharing 'Modi Hug' and samosas which are now quite famous there. I will definitely eat Gujarati khichdi next time. I will try and cook it in the kitchen the next time we both meet in person.

 

- Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said that I commend India's leadership to take over the Chairman of the Executive Board of WHO. This is a very important time to chair the board and I have no doubt that the leadership of India will be crucial in dealing with difficult problems globally especially in the health sector.

 

- Australia's PM Scott Morrison said that we share an ocean and we share responsibility for that ocean, for its health, welfare and safety. Regarding the issues that we are building in our maritime sector, I think there is a platform for many other things between our countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during the first India-Australia Virtual Summit that India is committed to strengthening its relations with Australia, it is not only for our two countries but also for the Indo-Pacific region and Also important for the whole world.

PM Modi said during the virtual meeting that this is the right time to further strengthen relations between India and Australia. During the 'India-Australia Virtual Summit', PM Modi said that on behalf of all India, I express my condolences to the COVID-19 affected people in Australia.

 

Earlier, PM Modi and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison expressed happiness about the India-Australia Virtual Summit. Australia PM Scott Morrison has tweeted that for the first time Australia-India Virtual Summit will be with PM Narendra Modi soon.

As a vibrant democracy, from commonwealth to cricket, even food, our people-to-people relations are strong and the future is bright.

 

Significantly, talks will be held between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian PM Scott Morrison during the virtual summit today. The heads of the two countries will attend the India-Australia Virtual Summit. During this time there will be positive discussion on bilateral relations between the two countries.

 

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the dates for the Prime Minister's visit to Australia in India were finalized this year, but the visit could not take place. After this it was also agreed to organize a 'virtual summit'. This is the first time Prime Minister Modi will hold a bilateral virtual summit. This shows the strength of relations between India and Australia.

 

Sources said that during the discussions between the two Prime Ministers, attention will be paid to positive initiatives in bilateral relations. The two Prime Ministers have already met four times during multilateral meetings. He further said that the virtual summit would be an opportunity for both leaders to review the broad framework of the relationship in the context of their growing relationship. This will be an opportunity to discuss their reactions related to the COVID-19 epidemic. Several MoUs and announcements are being discussed by the officials on this occasion.

 

Modi and Morrison have met four times over the past year and a half - the first meeting at the East Asia Summit in Singapore in November 2018, the G20 Summit in Osaka in June 2019, the G7 Summit in Biarritz in August 2019 and And the two have met during the East Asia Summit in Bangkok in November 2019.
