The 8th International Yoga Day is being celebrated all over the world including India today. PM Modi had reached the Mysuru Palace Ground in Karnataka to celebrate Yoga Day. He did yoga with about 15,000 people. PM Modi started yoga with asanas like Tadasana, Trikonasana, Bhadrasana. On this occasion, PM Modi said that Yoga has now become a global festival. It is not a part of life, it has become a way of life.
Yoga can bring peace to the country and the world: PM Modi
On this occasion, PM Modi said- 'Today Yoga is giving the confidence of healthy life to mankind. We are seeing from this morning that the pictures of Yoga that were seen in spiritual centers a few years ago are now visible in every corner of the world. These are pictures of common humanity. It has become a global festival. It is not only for an individual but for the entire humanity. So this time the theme is Yoga for Humanity.
He said- 'I thank the United Nations for taking yoga to the world. Friends, our sages, sages, and masters have said yoga – Yoga brings peace to us. It brings peace to our country and the world. This whole world is in our bodies. It makes everything come alive. Yoga makes us alert, and competitive. It connects people and countries. This can become a solution to the problem for all of us.
Yoga connects the country's past with diversity
PM Modi further said- 'The country is celebrating the 75th anniversary of independence. In such a situation, yoga is being done simultaneously at 75 historical centers in the country. It is like tying together India's past with India's diversity. People are doing yoga with sunrise in different countries of the world. As the sun is moving forward, people in different countries are joining together with its first ray. This is the Guardian Ring of Yoga.
He said- 'Friends, for the people of the world, Yoga is not just 'Part of Life' but is now becoming 'Way of Life'. We have seen that the elders of our house, our yoga practitioners do pranayama at different times of the day, then start working again. No matter how stressed we are, a few minutes of yoga increases our positivity and productivity. We also have to attain Yoga, flourish and live.
Yoga was done at 75 thousand places in UP
Today, on International Yoga Day, yoga practice took place at 75 thousand places in UP. Yoga program was held at 85 Ganga Ghats in Varanasi. Students performed water yoga at BHU. Special pictures of yoga have also come from rural areas including Lucknow, Varanasi, Saharanpur, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Mathura, Jaunpur, Jhansi, and Ghaziabad.
ITBP jawans did yoga in the snow
From Ladakh to Chhattisgarh and Assam's Guwahati to Sikkim, ITBP personnel did yoga as soon as the Yoga Day began. Soldiers celebrated Yoga Day by doing Surya Namaskar. ITBP jawan has also composed a song for this occasion.
Yoga Day is celebrated across the world
On the eve of Yoga Day, a yoga program was also organized near Niagara Falls in America, in which a large number of Indian and American citizens participated. At the same time, in Lahore, Pakistan, Muslim women did yoga wearing a burqa. Dharhara Tower was illuminated with lights on the eve of Yoga Day in Kathmandu, the capital of neighboring Nepal.

Every year on 21st June a theme is kept for Yoga Day. This year's theme has been chosen as 'Yoga for Humanity', which means Yoga for Humanity. According to the Ministry of AYUSH, the purpose of keeping this theme is to give relief to the people who have faced physical and mental stress during Kovid. Last year the theme of International Yoga Day 2021 was 'Yoga for Wellness'.
