In this season of the Indian Premier League, the troubles of Mumbai Indians are not taking the name of lessening. On the one hand, where the team has to face the 5th defeat, on the other hand, all the players including captain Rohit Sharma were fined due to slow over-rate. The Mumbai captain has been fined Rs 24 lakh for slow over-rate in the match played against Punjab, while the rest of the team has been fined Rs 6 lakh or 25 percent of the match fee. This is the second slow over-rate penalty for Rohit Sharma this season.
Earlier, in the crucial match against Punjab, when Mumbai's team landed, Punjab scored a respectable score of 198 runs thanks to the half-centuries of Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal. In response, once again Mumbai's opening pair could not do wonders, despite this, the team was moving fast towards victory at one time. But two run-outs in the last few overs and then the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav took Mumbai away from the match. This is Mumbai's fifth consecutive defeat this season.
From here it is very difficult for the team to reach the playoffs. However, in 2014, the team has traveled from such a situation to the playoffs once. But then the Mumbai team used to be different and stronger. Now the lack of Trent Boult and Pandya Brothers in this team is visible. Jasprit Bumrah doesn't seem to be in good shape.
Apart from this, except for Suryakumar Yadav, none of the batsmen can score big. Although in this match, Dewald Brevis, popularly known as Baby AB de Villiers, played brilliant innings of 49 runs in 25 balls and got Mumbai back in the match but Mumbai could not win. Mumbai's next match will be with Lucknow on April 16.
