IPL 2022: Whether Virat Kohli will become the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore again, Daniel Vettori gave a big update

IPL 2022 RCB Captain: After the release of the IPL 2022 schedule, the pressure of announcing a new captain is increasing on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Virat Kohli was captaining the team for the last seven years, but only last year he had announced to step down from the captaincy. 33-year-old Virat will now play for the team as a batsman. Many fans have demanded Virat's return as captain, but former RCB captain Daniel Vettori believes that the franchise will now look for another option.

In the IPL Mega Auction 2022, Bangalore bought Faf du Plessis for Rs 7 crore while Dinesh Karthik was bought for Rs 5.50 crore. Both have captaincy experience. Apart from him, Glenn Maxwell, who captained the Big Bash League (BBL), can also lead RCB. It is believed that the franchise can hand over the command of the team to one of these. RCB will start their campaign in IPL 2022 with a match against Punjab Kings on March 27.

Regarding whether Virat will now return as captain, Vettori told ESPNcricinfo, 'No (Virat Kohli will not be the captain of RCB again). I think it's as simple as that. I don't think it ever works. In franchise cricket or international cricket, once the captain moves forward, it is only right for him to move on.

He said, 'I think he will go ahead with Kohli. They will look at Maxwell and du Plessis and even Dinesh Karthik. Faf will also look at Maxwell. But if they win the first three matches, they'll probably stick with him. Three years is a long period in the IPL. They will see Maxwell for three years and hopefully he will continue to play like in the previous IPL.
