IRCTC and Indian Railways: Keeping in mind the problems of railway passengers, Central Railway has given great relief. The passengers have got this relief with refund of Ticket Cancellation. Now passengers can withdraw their money from the counter for six months from the date of travel. In fact, the Central Railway had earlier informed by tweeting that the ticket money can be withdrawn till June 30 for the trains canceled during the Coronavirus Lockdown. After this information was given by the railway, a huge crowd was gathering on ticket counters for ticket refund. However, the railways also facilitated online train ticket refund. But during this time, millions of tickets were canceled due to which the crowd at the ticket counter was continuously increasing.
Due to the crowd gathering on the counters to withdraw the money, the rules of social distance were being violated. Guidelines issued by the government to avoid the corona virus were being violated. In view of this, the railways have now made it clear that refund of cancell tickets can be taken for 6 months after the date of travel. Therefore, passengers should not rush over the railway counters in a hurry.
Meanwhile, a good news has come for those who are afraid of rail travel. Yes, according to the government, the Indian Railways have had the best safety performance so far during the last year. Not a single passenger has been killed in a train accident since April 2019. A release has been issued by the Ministry of Railways in this regard. According to this release, Indian Railways has recorded the best safety record so far during April 2019 - March 2020. This year also (from 01.04.2019 to 08.06.2020) no passenger has died in a railway accident. For the first time in the year 2019-2020, India has achieved this achievement since the introduction of the railway system in India 166 years ago in 1853.
It has been said by the Railway Ministry that the absence of not a single passenger in the last 15 months is a result of continuous efforts by Indian Railways to improve safety performance in all cases. Safety is always a top priority, so measures taken to improve the safety situation include removal of manned railway crossings, construction of road over bridge (ROB) / road under bridge (RUB), restoration of bridges, most Renovation of tracks, supply of maximum number of rails from SAIL during the year, effective maintenance of tracks, strict monitoring of safety aspects, better training of railway staff, improvement in signal system, use of modern technology for security operations, modern and traditional ICF coaches.
