Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat tried to block the controversy arising out of his statement regarding ripped jeans. On Friday, the CM said that his commentary on the costumes was centered around Indian values and culture. Their purpose was not to insult anyone. Respect for mother power has always been paramount for me. In a conversation with Hindustan, the CM said that if his statement hurt someone's feelings, he apologizes for it. Everyone is free to wear the garment of his choice.

Let us know that Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat is being surrounded by comments on the dress of women. His second video in this case went viral on Thursday. In the video, he is narrating the story of girls in Srinagar commenting on the shorts of girls. Three days ago he commented on women wearing 'torn jeans'. His remarks are being opposed from place to place in the state.

The Congress protested in several cities including Dehradun, Almora, Haridwar on Thursday and the Chief Minister's remarks on social media are also being opposed. The controversy began after Chief Minister Tirath Rawat's statement on Tuesday when he made a controversial statement about ripped jeans at a Children's Commission event in Dehradun. The Chief Minister had said that the youth of today, wearing torn pants on their knees, consider themselves to be sons of the elder father. Girls are not far behind in such fashion. She also commented on a woman hitchhiker with ripped jeans while referring to one of her air journeys.

His wife Dr. Rashmi Rawat has come forward to rescue CM. Releasing the video in defense of Tirath, she says that the context in which Tirath has said this has been misinterpreted. According to him, by holding just one word, the opposition has made a point. Dr. Rashmi states that Tirath believes that women's participation is very important for society and nation-building. Women save our cultural heritage, save our identity, save our costumes.
